American Idol *~* TOP 3 *~*

Tonight on AMERICAN IDOL, the remaining three contestants each got to sing and perform THREE songs! And the best part was that it was a pretty good night with a lot of good songs. Here is the breakdown of the night:

~*~ JUDGES SONGS ~*~

(1) Jordin Sparks – Simon's “Wishing On A Star” – Randy said that it was a very good vocal and the run at the end was hot; Paula said that Simon chose good because she did a beautiful job, and it was a good way to start the show; and Simon said that she sang it brilliantly but he liked the pure version of the song as opposed to her jazzy arrangement, and it wasn’t one of her better performances but still good.

(2) Blake Lewis – Paula’s “Roxanne” – Randy said that it was a great performance with a pretty good vocal and an overall “A”; Paula said that it was fantastic, he looked comfortable up there, it was good, fresh, and she really loved it; and Simon said that it wasn’t earth-shattering, not as good as the original, and good but not great.

(3) Melinda Doolittle – Randy’s “I Believe in You and Me” – Randy said that it was hot and she blew it out of the box and rose to the occasion of singing a Whitney Houston song; Paula said that it was fantastic, amazing, and one of her best; and Simon said that it was her best performance in the last 4 weeks, and ROUND 1 goes to Melinda!

~*~ PRODUCERS PICK ~*~

(1) Jordin Sparks – “She Works Hard For The Money” – Randy said that it doesn’t matter what song she sings because she is workin’ it out on whatever; Paula said that it was fantastic and she worked hard for the money tonight; and Simon, after he controlled his laughter at Paula, said that it was a very good performance, but the arrangement was old-fashioned.

(2) Blake Lewis – “This Love” – Randy said that that’s a good vibe for him, the kind that he could use for his record; Paula said that he was in his element and it had been a good night for him so far; and Simon said that he looked comfortable, he didn’t copycat, and he preferred this over his first performance.

(3) Melinda Doolittle – “Nutbush City Limits” – Randy said that it was once again another great stellar performance and that was the kind of sound she should use for her record; Paula said, “What else can we say? We love you, we love you, and we love you!”; and Simon said that he loved that side of her and it was again another brilliant performance.

Simon also said that this round was a TIE!!!

~*~ CONTESTANT PICK ~*~

(1) Jordin Sparks – “I, Who Have Nothing” – Randy said that it was another great performance, very hot, nicely controlled, and her best of the night; Paula said that it sat well in her voice in how it built up, was really great, and was a good choice of song; and Simon said that she sang it well but he wasn’t loving it because it was very old-fashioned.

(2) Blake Lewis – “When I Get You Alone” – Randy said that it was cool but his second was better; Paula said that he had three great performances for the night; and Simon said that he actually really liked it, and he likes Blake because he doesn’t play it safe, he takes a risk, and he has fun.

(3) Melinda Doolittle – “I’m A W-O-M-A-N” – This was my favorite performance of hers from the beginning and has always been probably my favorite song that she has sung, so to hear this again was great!!! Randy said that it was another hot performance and she could sing the phonebook or whatever and it would sound great; Paula said she was stepping out into the spotlight, was fantastic and awesome; and Simon said that he loved the little strip tease at the beginning, and then he said, “If I’m gonna award a place in the final to the person who consistently delivered week after week, it’s YOU!!!” ALRIGHT!!!

After all was done and over, the judges gave their final PREDICTIONS:

Randy – Two girls will be in the Finale if based on singing
Paula – So diverse with the three of them that it is hard to tell
Simon – Wants to see Melinda (his girl) in the Finale – ME TOO!!!

My Prediction – I would have to agree with Randy on this one. Blake is awesome to watch, but his voice isn’t the greatest, so I wouldn’t care to see him go. Plus, I would love to see Jordin and Melinda both compete for the title of American Idol ’07. Jordin and Melinda are the best, but when it finally comes down to it, I think that Melinda Doolittle will be the WINNER!!!

Well…it was an awesome night! And I can’t wait for the Finale!
